More than 10 lakh devotees are expected to arrive in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on the occasion of Mahashivratri on 15th and 16th February. During this period, most of the people will reach Kashi on two-wheeler and four-wheeler through different routes like in the urban area. Keeping this in mind, a special plan has been prepared by the Varanasi Traffic Police. So that the local people face minimum problems along with the pilgrims.
For this, Varanasi Police has completely prohibited the entry of vehicles in the temple premises. Apart from this, route diversion has also been done at many places in the city. Whereas no vehicle zones have also been created at some places.
No vehicle zone from Maidagin to Gadaulia
According to the information received by ABP Live, on the occasion of Mahashivratri, there will be a no vehicle zone from Maidagin to Gadaulia in Varanasi. Apart from this, there will be a ban on the entry of big vehicles for about 2-3 kilometers of the Kashi Vishwanath temple complex for the stipulated time. Four wheelers will be stopped near Sampurnanand Sanskrit Vidyalaya in Varanasi. Apart from this, Varanasi Traffic Police has appealed to the devotees and people coming to Varanasi to visit the temple premises with restraint and patience.
There will be maximum crowd during Shiva procession
On Mahashivratri, Shiva procession will start from different places of Kashi from evening itself. Most prominently, there has been a tradition of taking out a big Shiva procession with thousands of devotees through Shri Mahamrityunjaya Maidagin of Varanasi till the gate of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Temple. During this period, all types of vehicles will be stopped on this route. Apart from this, a large number of Shiv processions will also take place from different places of the district, during which there will be a ban on the movement of big vehicles in view of the traffic arrangements on that route.
Varanasi Police has appealed to the local citizens for cooperation so that order is maintained. Apart from this, police assistance centers have also been set up, where people can contact in case of any problem.
