‘120 Bahadur’ is based on a true incident

‘120 Bahadur’ is based on the 1962 war between India and China, in which the 13th Kumaon Regiment faced more than 3000 Chinese soldiers in snowy weather at Rezang La.

The soldiers’ weapons also froze at minus 24 degree temperature, but still the Indian soldiers stood firm on the battlefield until they sacrificed their lives to protect the border. It is said that 114 out of 120 soldiers were martyred in the war, but they forced the Chinese soldiers to retreat.

It is believed that in this war, our soldiers had killed more than 1000 Chinese soldiers equipped with modern weapons. However, there were protests regarding this film before its release. The protesting Ahir community says that in the trailer of the film, it is shown as if Major Shaitan Singh Bhati was the only one who fought in the war, but apart from him, many soldiers also fought in the war without caring for their lives, who came from the Ahir community.

Farhan Akhtar has played the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati of the Kumaon Regiment in the film, who was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra for his indomitable courage.
