Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has clarified some important changes related to board examinations from 2026. According to the board, students who have passed 12th will be able to give improvement in only one subject in the supplementary examination to improve their marks. The policy of two board exams for class 10th will remain in force as before. In such a situation, let us tell you today which changes related to the board examinations have been clarified by CBSE in 2026.
What are the rules for 12th class students?
CBSE Controller of Examination Sanyam Bhardwaj has informed that class 12 students can get a chance to improve in only one subject in the supplementary examinations to be held in July 2026. Whereas if a student wants to improve in more than one subject, then he will have to appear in the main board examination to be held in February next year. That means multiple subject improvement will not be allowed in supplementary. Apart from this, according to the board, the 12th improvement examination is proposed on 15 July 2026. After the declaration of the result of the main examination, students will be able to apply for improvement or compartment examination. At the time of release of results, detailed guidelines will also be issued. Apart from this, CBSE has made it clear that the system of two exams is only for class 10th, this policy will not be applicable on class 12th students.
How will there be improvement for 10th?
According to the board, only the second board exam in class 10th will be considered as improvement exam. Immediately after the completion of the main examination, a window will be opened for about 10 days in which students will be able to apply for the second examination on the basis of the probable result. After the declaration of the first exam result, one more opportunity will be given, in which students can apply after seeing their marks. Whereas to appear in the second examination, it will be mandatory to deposit the prescribed fee and only the candidates who deposit the fee will be allowed to appear in the examination.
How will the percentage of private candidates be decided?
CBSE has clarified that only marks are recorded in the marksheet, the board itself does not calculate the percentage, regarding giving exams in only two subjects for private candidates. The method of calculating the percentage will depend on the rules of the concerned university, higher educational institutions or employing organization. You will be able to calculate the percentage as per your eligibility criteria.
