Punjab captain Abhishek Sharma played a brilliant inning in the group stage match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025-2026. This is the biggest opening partnership in the history of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Earlier this record was in the name of Sanju Samson and Rohan Kunnumal, who had made an opening partnership of 177 runs for Kerala.

Third fastest T20 century

The century scored by Abhishek Sharma in 32 balls is the third fastest century in the history of Indian cricket. He occupies the number-1 position in the list of T20I batsmen in the ICC rankings. With this victory, Punjab has reached a strong position in Group C. This innings came fourth in terms of fastest century by Indian batsmen in T20 cricket. He and Urvil Patel’s innings are at number one. Both of them scored centuries in 28 balls. Abhishek had scored a century in 28 balls against Meghalaya last year.
