Aslam Shabbir Sheikh alias Bunty Jahagirdar, active in the political and criminal area of ​​Shrirampur, was fired upon by unknown assailants in Shrirampur city on Wednesday evening. Bunty Jahagirdar, who was seriously injured in this attack, died during treatment in a private hospital in Ahilyanagar.
According to the information, Bunty was returning from the Jahagirdar cemetery when unknown assailants opened fire on him near the main gate in front of the German Hospital in Shrirampur city. After committing the incident the attackers fled from the spot. At present the reason behind the attack is not clear. It is noteworthy that the CCTV video of the attackers absconding after firing on Bunty Jahagirdar is going viral on social media.
Bunty was arrested in the German bakery bomb blast case
On the basis of this video, the police is busy searching for the accused. It is noteworthy that Bunty Jahagirdar was arrested in the German Bakery bomb blast case on Jangli Maharaj Road, Pune in August 2012 and he was a co-accused in this case. In the year 2023, the Bombay High Court had granted him bail in this case. Apart from this, many other criminal cases were also registered against him in Shrirampur, due to which he was tried several times.
Bunty has also been active in politics
On the other hand, Bunty Jahagirdar has also been active in politics earlier. Not only this, there has also been talk of her behind-the-scenes role in her cousin’s victory in the city council elections held in the year 2025. At present it is not clear why today’s attack was carried out. Police have sent five special teams to search for the accused in this attack case, Superintendent of Police Somnath Gharge has given such information.
