In Kanker district of Chhattisgarh, 21 Naxalites surrendered before the security forces on Sunday (26 October). Police officials said that influenced by the ‘Poona Margame: Rehabilitation to Rejuvenation’ initiative in the district, 21 Naxalites have surrendered before the security forces. Of these, 18 Naxalites have surrendered with their weapons.
He said that the surrendered Naxalites belong to Kuemari/Kiskodo Area Committee of Keshkal Division (North Sub Zonal Bureau). Division Committee Secretary Mukesh is also included in these. Officials said that the 21 Naxalites who surrendered include four DVCMs (Division Vice Committee Members), nine ACMs (Area Committee Members) and eight party members. Naxalites have decided to leave the path of violence and join the mainstream of society.

He said that those who surrendered include 13 female Naxalites and eight male Naxalites. Officials said that the weapons deposited by the Naxalites include three AK-47 rifles, four SLR rifles, two INSAS rifles, six .303 rifles, two single shot rifles and one BGL. He said that the necessary legal process is going on for the rehabilitation of the surrendered Naxalites in the society.
Naxalites are surrendering in large numbers
Let us tell you that surrender of a large number of Naxalites is going on in Chhattisgarh. Earlier on October 17, 210 Naxalites along with 153 weapons had surrendered in Jagdalpur. At the same time, on October 2, 103 Naxalites had surrendered in Bijapur district of Bastar region, out of which 49 had a total reward of more than Rs 1.06 crore.
Resolve for Naxal-free India by March 31, 2026
It is noteworthy that Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that the Central Government has resolved to end the Naxal problem from the country by March 31, 2026. Recently, during his stay in Bastar, he had appealed to the Naxalites to give up their weapons.
