The mega auction for the Women’s Premier League 2026 is scheduled to take place on November 27. A few weeks before that, all the teams have released their respective retention lists. BCCI had set a purse of Rs 15 crore for all the 5 teams. RCB, MI, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriors and Gujarat Giants together have retained a total of 17 players, on whom a total of Rs 39.4 crore has been spent. Rs 39 crore spent on 17 players
Only Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals have used all their five retentions. Royal Challengers Bangalore have retained 4 players, Gujarat Giants have retained two players and UP Warriors have retained only one player. Out of these 17 players, 10 are Indian and 7 are foreign. Three uncapped players have also been retained. A lot of money has also been showered on uncapped players, because BCCI had set the price for them at Rs 50 lakh.
who spent how much money
-Mumbai Indians retained Harmanpreet Kaur, Nate Sciver Brunt, Hayley Mathews, Amanjot Kaur and G Kamalini, on whom it spent Rs 9.25 crore.
-RCB has spent Rs 8.85 crore on only 4 players. The Bengaluru franchise has retained Smriti Mandhana, Ellyse Perry, Richa Ghosh and Shreyanka Patil. Bengaluru has not kept any uncapped player in its retention list.
-Delhi Capitals have also spent Rs 9.30 crore out of the purse of Rs 15 crore. It has retained Jemimah Rodrigues, Shefali Verma, Marijne Kapp, Annabel Sutherland and uncapped player Nikki Prasad.
-Gujarat Giants have retained 2 veterans in the form of Ashley Gardner and Beth Mooney. Gujarat team has spent Rs 6 crore on only 2 players.
-UP Warriors have released big players including Deepti Sharma. He has retained only uncapped player Shweta Sehrawat.
