Ramgarh Coal News: A major accident occurred due to a collapse of a closed coal mine in Kuju area of ​​Ramgarh district in the early hours of Saturday (5 July). 4 people died in the accident while 4 others were seriously injured.

The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Imtiaz, Rameshwar Manjhi, Advocate Karmali and Nirmal Munda, who were residents of nearby villages. According to PTI, SDPO Parameshwar Prasad of Ramgarh said that the debris has been completely removed after relief and rescue operations and now no one is likely to be trapped.

Administration issued a show cause notice to CCL- Officer

The accident occurred during illegal coal mining in a closed mine of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL). Superintendent of Police Ajay Kumar said that the company has security arrangements to stop such illegal activities, but at the time of the incident, some villagers had reached there. Officials said that the district administration has issued a show cause notice to CCL. At the same time, the villagers protested demanding compensation, alleging that the company’s negligence.

Family members of the deceased demand compensation

The villagers protesting outside the CCL Karma Project Office demanded a compensation of Rs 20 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 5-5 lakh to the injured. Rural Mohammad Kalam said that if there were blockers around the mine and adequate protection, the accident could have been stopped. A meeting was also held between CCL and villagers regarding compensation, but so far no concrete decision has been made.

Political reactions have also come to light on the incident. Union Minister Annapurna Devi described the accident as unfortunate and demanded immediate action from the state government. BJP state president Babulal Marandi demanded a high -level inquiry, calling the incident “murder”.

Accusing the government of ignoring illegal mining, he said that the closed mine became active again due to the coal mafia, causing this accident. Marandi also expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families.
