The country’s security agencies have exposed a major white-collar terrorist network with the arrest of four doctors in a sustained operation over the last four days. This network was planning major terrorist attacks in India and was being operated by foreign handlers based in Pakistan and other countries.

In the joint raid conducted in Haryana, UP, Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir, the police recovered more than 2,900 kg of explosives, weapons, rifles, pistols, timers, batteries and material for making IED. Investigation revealed that many doctors were allegedly working for Jaish-e-Mohammed, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGuH) and ISIS.

1. 2,563 kg of suspected explosives recovered from two houses in Faridabad
Faridabad Police made second major recovery in just 24 hours. A day after 350 kg of explosives were found in Dhauj, 2,563 kg of suspected ammonium nitrate was found in another house in Fatehpur Taga. This house was also taken on rent by Kashmiri doctor Muzammil Shakeel. Police say that this explosive could have been used in making IED on a large scale.

2. Muzammil Shakeel-the big mastermind of ‘white-collar terror module’
Pulwama resident Dr. Muzammil Shakeel, who was an assistant professor at Al-Falah University, Faridabad, turned out to be an important part of this module. He was living in two houses in Dhauj and Fatehpur Taga for the last three years and a large cache of explosives and weapons was found from these houses. Police say that this module was getting brain and logistics support through Muzammil.

3. 350 kg explosives, timers, rifles and suitcases were found from the first house.
The items recovered from his rented house in Dhauj on Sunday included 350 kg ammonium nitrate, 20 timers, an assault rifle, a pistol, several cartridges, 12 big and 4 small suitcases, a bucket full of explosives. This material indicates preparations for a major attack.

4. Female doctor Shaheen Shahid arrested
Faridabad Police found the name of a female doctor, Dr. Shaheen Shahid, during the interrogation of Muzammil. When the police searched his Swift car, they found-
• An assault rifle,
• a pistol,
• Live cartridges were recovered.
Dr. Shaheen was immediately arrested. Police suspect that she was helping Muzammil in carrying weapons. Shaheen Shahid is a resident of Lal Bagh, Lucknow.

5. Dr. Adil Rather – From putting up posters to keeping weapons
Dr. Adil Ahmed Rather was arrested from Saharanpur, UP. He was earlier a doctor in GMC Anantnag. An AK-47 rifle was found in his locker and he was seen putting up pro-Jaish posters in CCTV. His inquiry played a big role in reaching Muzammil.

6. More than 2,900 kg bomb making material recovered
In the joint operation going on for the last 15 days, Haryana and J&K Police have so far recovered more than 2,900 kg of IED related items, rifles, pistols, batteries, remote controls, electronic circuits. This recovery is considered to be the biggest recovery in recent years.

7. Links to foreign handlers
Investigation has revealed that these doctors were in contact with handlers based in Pakistan and other countries. Their network has been found to be directly linked to Islamic State Khorasan (ISIS-K), Jaish-e-Mohammed, Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind (AGUH).

8. Arrest of Dr. Syed in Gujarat
Gujarat ATS arrested Dr. Ahmed Syed of Hyderabad, who has done MBBS from China. He was preparing to make resin poison and had also done recce of crowded places. Glock pistols, Beretta gun and 30 cartridges were found from him. Not only this, about 4 liters of castor oil has been recovered from him, which is used in making a deadly poison called resin. He was preparing to attack the crowded places of Delhi-Lucknow-Ahmedabad.

9. Raids in many districts
By conducting raids in Srinagar, Anantnag, Ganderbal and Shopian of Jammu and Kashmir, police recovered books on making IED, digital devices, terrorist posters and many suspicious documents. With this, the entire module seems to be spreading within academic and professional circles.

10. More than 7 accused arrested so far
So far, at least 7 accused doctors and professionals including Muzammil, Adil, Shaheen have been arrested. According to officials, this module was preparing chemical and firearm-based terrorist attacks across the country. It has also been revealed that all of them were using their ‘clean profession’ as a cover.

  • Yasir-ul-Ashraf, resident of Nowgam, Srinagar
  • Maqsood Ahmed Dar (Shahid), resident of Nowgam, Srinagar
  • Maulvi Irfan Ahmed (Imam of the mosque), resident Shopian
  • Jamir Ahmed Ahangar (Mutlasha), resident of Wakura, Ganderbal
  • Dr. Muzammil Ahmed Ganai (Musaib), resident of Koil, Pulwama
  • Dr. Adil, resident Wanpora, Kulgam
  • Dr. Shaheen Shahid, resident, Lalbagh, Lucknow
