Trump Tariff: India’s Sea Food Exotters are preparing to send a shrimp 35,000-40,000 tonnes to the US. After 90 days of relief from US President Donald Trump’s 26 percent reciperoot tariff imposed on India, preparations are now being prepared to export goods. Trump has retained the baseline tariff of 10 percent on all other countries except China. Explain that the US has imposed a 145 percent tariff on import of Chinese goods.
2000 containers of shrimp will be sent
Talking to PTI-language, Secretary of Sea Food Exporters Association, N Raghavan said, now we have got a lot of relief because now we are equal to other expoters of America. Now the work on the stopped shipment will be done. He further said, about 2,000 containers of shrimp will now be exported, which were kept on hold till now. This is because Trump decided to stop it on April 9, a week after announcing the high tariff imposed on 2 April.
In this way, the expenses bear the expenses of tariffs
Currently, custom duty is imposed at the rate of 17.7 percent on the export of shrimp from India to America. This includes 5.7 percent counter-making duty and 1.8 % anti-dumping duty. Sources associated with the industry said that Indian exporters usually bear the cost of tariffs under delivery duty-paid arrangements. This means that pre -contracting shipments would have to bear the burden of more expenditure under high tariffs.
America is the largest market for Indian shrimp
The association also informed that there has been no decrease in order from America. America still remains the largest market for Indian shrimp. India exported US $ 2.7 billion shrimp to the US in FY 2023-24. During this, N Raghavan urged the government to start talking about trading before the deadline of getting the relief on tariffs and focus on ensuring ‘equal opportunity’ for the country’s Sea food exports.
