43 people lost their lives in Punjab floods, cropped crops on 1.71 lakh hectares of land, Shivraj Chauhan-Arvind Kejriwal visited

This monsoon came as a havoc for Punjab. This time, in the terrible floods, more than 1000 villages of Punjab were submerged in water and the crop grown on about 1.71 hectares of land was destroyed. So far 43 people have died in this disaster. Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal visited the flood affected areas.

Shivraj Singh Chauhan assured the flood affected people that the center is standing with them and all possible help will be delivered to them. The water level in Bhakra Dam is only one feet less than its maximum capacity of 1680 feet. Due to excess water release, the Rupnagar district administration has appealed to the people living on the banks of the low -lying areas and the Sutlej river to go to safe places.

Punjab government’s move to deal with floods
The Patiala district administration has also issued an alert for residents in view of heavy rains in areas around Ghaggar River in Patran. The Punjab government has directed the deployment of gazetted officials in every flood affected village for effective monitoring of rescue and relief operations.

Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said that a gazetted officer has been deployed in every village to ensure direct communication between the administration and the people of the flood affected areas. People affected by this will be able to share their problems and their proper solution will be ensured.

Shivraj Singh told the status of ‘Water Holocaust’
CM Bhagwant Mann said that large -scale relief and rescue operations are being conducted in flood affected areas so that people do not face any kind of trouble. The government has ordered special Girdawari to assess the damage due to floods. At the same time, Shivraj Chauhan took stock of the damage done to the crop and described it as the status of the water process.

Flood loss will be assessed in Punjab
Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited flood affected areas in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Kapurthala and interacted with people including farmers. He said that two central parties are visiting Punjab to assess the situation and they will submit a report to the central government. The loss is clearly visible.
