5 most expensive overs in IPL history, when the batsmen destroyed the bowlers

There is rain of fours and sixes in IPL every season, but there are some overs which are recorded forever in the history of cricket. Scoring the most runs in a single over not only shows the strength of the batsman, but also changes the entire trend of the match. In the history of IPL, there have been many such overs where the bowlers looked helpless and the batsmen made records.

Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Kochi Tuskers – 8 May 2011

The record of most runs scored in one over in IPL is 37 runs. This feat was first accomplished by Chris Gayle on 8 May 2011. While playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Gayle attacked Kochi Tuskers Kerala bowler Prasanth Parameswaran fiercely in the over. Gayle hit six sixes and fours with one no-ball in that over. This match played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is still counted among the most memorable moments of IPL.

RCB vs Chennai Super Kings – 25 April 2021

After almost ten years, this record was repeated again on 25 April 2021. This time, Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja scored 37 runs in one over of RCB bowler Harshal Patel. In this match played in Mumbai, Jadeja hit sixes and proved that he has the ability to win matches not only with the ball but also with the bat.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Mumbai Indians – 2022

Another surprising name was added to this list in IPL 2022. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Pat Cummins scored 35 runs in Daniel Sams’ over against Mumbai Indians. In this match played in Pune, Cummins showed that even a fast bowler can become a dangerous batsman when needed.

Chennai Super Kings vs Kings XI Punjab – 30 May 2014

Suresh Raina has always been a reliable batsman in IPL. On May 30, 2014, while playing for CSK, he scored 33 runs in one over of Punjab’s Parvinder Awana. His fast run rate and excellent timing put the team in a strong position.

Kolkata Knight Riders vs Kings XI Punjab – 4 April 2010

In IPL 2010, Manoj Tiwari of Kolkata Knight Riders along with Chris Gayle scored 33 runs in a single over. Fours and sixes rained in this over of Ravi Bopara and this moment of the initial IPL season is still remembered.
