The mid-size SUV segment in India is already quite competitive, but it is going to get even more interesting in the coming months. Tata Motors, Mahindra and Maruti Suzuki are preparing to launch their new SUVs. These vehicles will have all three engine options – petrol, diesel and electric. Let’s take a look at these upcoming models.
tata sierra
- Tata Sierra, which is still loved by millions of people, is once again making a comeback in India. This SUV will be launched on November 25 and many futuristic features have been given in its new model. The biggest attraction is its triple screen setup, which will be seen for the first time in a Tata car. It has three engine options (1.5 tGDi new petrol engine, 1.5 NA petrol and 1.5 turbo diesel). The company is offering both manual and automatic gearboxes. The most special model of Sierra will be its all-electric version, which will be launched in January 2026.
Tata Harrier and Safari Petrol
- Tata Harrier and Safari were till now available only in diesel versions, but on December 9, both the SUVs will also be launched with petrol engines. It will be equipped with the company’s new 1.5-litre tGDi petrol engine, which is capable of generating 170hp power and 280Nm torque. Both manual and automatic options will be available in it. There has been no change in the design and features, just the lineup is being strengthened with the new petrol engine.
New 7-seater electric SUV will arrive on November 27
- Mahindra’s new electric 7-seater SUV—XEV 9S is going to be launched on November 27, It is considered to be the electric version of XUV700 and it has been specially designed keeping in mind the family customers, Two battery pack options can be found in it – 59 kWh and 79 kWh, ,
Maruti e-Vitara
- Maruti Suzuki’s first electric SUV e-Vitara will be launched on 2 December 2025. Its production has also started at Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. It will have two battery packs of 49 kWh and 61 kWh, of which the larger battery claims to give a range of about 500 km. This electric SUV will come with a single motor and front-wheel drive system. Maruti’s target is to make a strong hold in the EV market from day one.
