When the game of cricket started being played at the international level, who would have thought that it would be possible to score a century even in 30-40 balls. The Indian Premier League has taken T20 cricket to a new level. Batsmen like Chris Gayle, David Miller and Travis Head have scored IPL centuries in less than 40 balls. But who has the fastest century and is any Indian player also included in this list?
Fastest century in IPL history
The record of the fastest century in the history of IPL has been in the name of Chris Gayle for the last 13 years. Gayle had scored a century in just 30 balls against Pune Warriors in 2013. This was the same match when Gayle played a historic inning of 175 runs, in which he hit 17 sixes and 13 fours.
The second fastest century is in the name of India’s Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who scored a century in 35 balls while playing for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2025. This is also the fastest century for India in IPL. He broke the record of Yusuf Pathan, who scored an IPL century in 37 balls. Last year itself, Heinrich Klaasen had also achieved a historic feat by scoring a century in 37 balls.
David Miller has scored 38, while Travis Head and Priyansh Arya have scored centuries in 39 balls in IPL. Apart from these batsmen, no batsman in the history of the Indian Premier League has completed a century in less than 40 balls.
