To ensure grand, safe and smooth conduct of the country’s 77th Republic Day celebrations, New Delhi District Police has made elaborate security and convenience arrangements in and around the duty path. At the same time, this time the Delhi Police and the central investigating agencies have received many inputs regarding attempts to create disturbance during the Republic Day celebrations, for which the investigating agencies have made complete security preparations.
Delhi Police’s Additional Police Commissioner Devesh Mahala said, ‘Delhi Police and central investigating agencies have many inputs regarding the terrorist attack this time on Republic Day. This time, not only Khalistani terror groups but also Bangladeshi outfits are trying to disrupt the parade.
He said, ‘This time the central agencies, Delhi Police, paramilitary forces have made a lot of changes in security. This time, AI technology in security, AI equipped glasses will be provided to the policemen, in which an alert will be sent as soon as a suspect is seen. Apart from this, face recognition cameras have been installed to recognize such faces. Six CCTV control rooms have been set up on the parade route alone, in which 1,000 high definition cameras have been installed.

He further said, ’31 CCTV control rooms have been made all over New Delhi, which means everywhere is under the cover of cameras. Not only the terrorists and suspects uploaded in the system, whose names are not in the system, if such people are also seen, then an alert will be sent. Physical and AI techniques are being used according to different input threats.
Physical checking of vehicles will be done in many layers – Devesh Mahala
Additional Police Commissioner said, ‘For security reasons, there will be three layers of physical checking and vehicles will also be checked in three layers. 10,000 policemen of New Delhi District, apart from these, paramilitary forces are deployed. He said, ‘The parade route has been divided into 26 zones, in which DCPs of District, Special Cell and Crime Branch will be deployed. The seating annexes have been divided in the name of rivers, so that people get down at the same gate on foot or by metro accordingly.
Multi-layered siege has been done in the duty path area – Devesh Mahala
Delhi Police’s Additional Police Commissioner Devesh Mahala said, ‘A multi-layered cordon has been laid by Delhi Police and paramilitary forces in the duty path area. The entire area is being monitored through a wide network of CCTV cameras, which are linked to the state-of-the-art facial recognition system. Apart from this, anti-drone units and sniper teams have been deployed on high-rise buildings for aerial surveillance. To prevent any possible threat, an intensive verification campaign of hotels, guest houses, tenants and domestic helpers is also being conducted across the district.
He said, ‘Police have appealed to all the invited guests and ticket holders to read the details given in their invitation letter carefully and use the prescribed routes only. Enclosures named after Indian rivers
He said, ‘This year the enclosures for the Republic Day celebrations have been named after Indian rivers. Also, keeping in mind the convenience and safety of the guests, many important changes have been made in the pattern of security deployment. With the help of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, regular announcements are being made at all metro stations, in which information about entry-exit gates, routes, prohibited items and other important instructions is being given.
He said, ‘Guests coming for Beas, Brahmaputra, Chambal, Chenab, Gandak, Ganga, Ghaghra, Godavari, Indus and Jhelum enclosure should get down at Udyog Bhawan metro station. At the same time, guests coming for Kaveri, Kosi, Krishna, Mahanadi, Narmada, Pennar, Periyar, Ravi, Son, Sutlej, Teesta, Vaigai and Yamuna enclosure should use the Central Secretariat metro station. Special invited guests have been given the facility of free travel in Delhi Metro, for which they will have to follow the instructions given on the digital pass.
He said, ‘Guests have been appealed to walk only in the prescribed channelizers, follow the direction boards and cooperate with the security personnel at the frisking points. Delhi Police help desks have also been set up at prominent places around the duty path for assistance.
Carrying these things inside the enclosure is prohibited
Additional Police Commissioner Devesh Mahala said, ‘For security reasons, carrying bags, briefcases, food items, electronic items other than mobiles, power banks, water bottles, weapons, sharp objects, inflammable substances, umbrellas, perfumes, toy weapons and any kind of explosives inside the enclosure is completely prohibited.’
He said, ‘New Delhi District Police has appealed to the citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest policeman or call 112.’
