
Vangibhaat is a flavorful South Indian rice dish prepared with brinjal, tamarind and special Vangibhaat powder. In this, stir-fried brinjal and aromatic spices are mixed in cooked rice. Due to which its taste becomes spicy, sour and slightly smoky.

Gunpowder rice is also a South Indian underrated dish. As the name suggests, it is a fried rice in which leftover rice is cooked with gunpowder and seasoned with coconut oil, curry leaves, dried red chillies and other spices.

Podi rice is considered a simple and flavorful dish. In which cooked rice is mixed with spicy podi, ghee or sesame oil. Podi is a mixture of roasted lentils, dry red chillies, sesame seeds, cumin seeds and spices.

Ven Pongal is a famous South Indian dish made from rice and moong dal. In this, tempering of ghee, black pepper, cumin, ginger and curry leaves is applied.

In Tomato Rice, rice is cooked with spicy tomato gravy. In this, tempering of things like mustard seeds, curry leaves, green chillies, cumin seeds and cinnamon is applied.

Whereas in tamarind rice, cooked rice is mixed with tamarind paste. This paste contains tamarind juice, jaggery, mustard seeds, curry leaves, dried red chillies and spices.

Lemon rice is made from leftover rice. It is given a sour and spicy taste by adding mustard seeds, curry leaves, turmeric, roasted peanuts and lemon juice.
