Asif Afridi accomplished this feat at the age of 38 years and 301 days. Asif took 6 wickets in the first innings of the second test against South Africa. Before Asif Afridi, the record of taking 5 wickets in the debut test at the oldest age was in the name of England leg spinner Charles Marriott. Marriott achieved this feat against West Indies in 1933 at the age of 37 years and 332 days.

In reply, Pakistan lost 4 wickets in the second innings at the score of 94 by the end of the third day’s play. Right now their total lead is only 23 runs. Asif Afridi is the second oldest player of Pakistan to make his Test debut.

Asif has become the second oldest cricketer to debut in Test cricket for Pakistan. The oldest player to debut for Pakistan in Test cricket is Miran Baksh, who debuted against Team India in 1955 at the age of 47 years and 284 days.
