The police have started their action regarding this firing incident and the search for the suspect is going on. After this incident the university campus was temporarily closed.
According to a statement released on the university’s website, Cambridge Police has said in its report that an unknown person riding a bicycle has fired at another person on ‘Sherman Street’. The suspect is going towards Garden Street on bicycle. Please avoid that area and stay in a safe place.
Ballistic evidence recovered in police investigation
Harvard University had issued an order to stay at a safe place, which was later lifted. The police said that no victim has been identified yet and there is no threat to public safety.

University issued warning on emergency alert website
However, the university said on its emergency alert website, “Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to HUPD at 617-495-1212.” According to the alert message, the suspected attacker was seen cycling towards Garden Street, which runs from North Cambridge to Radcliffe Quad and Harvard Square. Even about 20 minutes after the university’s emergency alert, some students and people living nearby were still present outside the quad. However, the area was evacuated by 11:40 am.
