Indian cricket team captain Shubman Gill has given a big statement about fast bowler Harshit Rana after the end of the ODI series against Australia. Gill said that if Harshit Rana can contribute 20 to 25 runs with the bat, then he can be the bowling all-rounder at number eight that India is looking for.

Let us tell you that fast bowler Harshit Rana gave the best performance of his career by taking 4 wickets in the third ODI against Australia on Saturday. Nitish Kumar Reddy was out due to injury, but compared to Hardik Pandya, his bowling does not have the required pace and his inclusion as an all-rounder batting at number eight had proved to be harmful in the first two ODIs. Rana had scored 24 runs in the second match in Adelaide and due to this the Indian captain has become interested in the bowling all-rounder instead of the batsman.

If Rana scores 20-25 runs then number 8 is certain for him – Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill said in the press conference after the match, “I think for us, if a batsman can score 20-25 runs there for the number eight position, then it can become a very important position. We are confident that Harshit Rana can do this. There are very few fast bowlers who are tall and who can bowl at a speed of more than 140. So if we look at South Africa, such bowlers become very important on such wickets.”

Gill further said, “In the middle overs we saw that the ball did not move much off the wicket, so if you have good length and pace then you can create chances and I think that is what happened.” The Indian captain gave credit to the spinners for creating pressure and after this Rana took wickets.
