As Bihar Assembly elections 2025 are coming closer, the political atmosphere is getting heated. This time the discussion is not only about seats and alliances, but about those candidates whose wealth has reached crores. The election affidavits have once again made it clear that the politics of Bihar has now moved beyond influence, caste and mass base and has transformed into a confluence of money power and muscle power.

JDU candidate from Mokama assembly seat Anant Singh and his wife Neelam Devi are once again in the headlines. The combined wealth of both is said to be more than ₹100 crore. Anant Singh has assets worth around ₹38 crore, while Neelam Devi’s net worth is reported to be around ₹63 crore. Neelam Devi has three luxury SUVs, land worth crores and gold and diamond jewelery worth lakhs of rupees. This couple is not only politically influential but is also known as the most prosperous political family of Bihar.

Status contest in Mokama: Surajbhan Singh vs Anant Singh family
Mokama seat has become one of the most high-profile contests this time. Here RJD candidate Veena Devi is the wife of former MP Surajbhan Singh. Veena Devi has declared assets worth around Rs 7 crore in her affidavit, which includes two flats worth ₹ 6.95 crore in Dakbungla Chowk, Patna and gold jewelery worth ₹ 1.5 crore. The contest on this seat is as much political as it is about status and prosperity.

RJD leader Osama Shahab is the son of Bahubali Mohammad Shahabuddin. The combined wealth of him and his wife is more than ₹5 crore. He has a luxury car worth ₹35 lakh and immovable property worth ₹1.45 crore. JDU candidate Chetan Anand is the son of former MP Anand Mohan Singh. RJD candidate from Lalganj seat, Shivani Shukla, is the daughter of Bahubali Munna Shukla, but she has made a distinct identity in politics. Shivani, who has done LLM from London University, has movable assets worth only ₹21 lakh and has taken an education loan of ₹36 lakh for her studies. His transparency and educational background make him different from those leaders who do politics only on family influence.
