There was a stir in a Lufthansa flight from America to Germany when a young man of Indian origin attacked two passengers in the flight with a metal barbed spoon. The attack was so violent that the crew had to declare an emergency and immediately divert the flight to Boston Logan Airport.
This incident occurred on October 25, 2025 in Lufthansa flight LH-431, which was going from Chicago to Frankfurt (Germany). A 28-year-old Indian youth named Praneet Kumar Usiripalli, who was on board the flight, suddenly became violent.
Passenger attacked 17 year old boys
While the passengers were resting after the meal service, he attacked a 17-year-old boy sitting nearby with a fork. The person attacked him directly near his shoulder. Not only this, he pricked the back of the head of another 17 year old boy sitting next to him. The other boy got a head injury and started bleeding. After the attack, when the crew members tried to catch the accused, he started doing more strange acts.
According to people present there, the accused made his hand ‘like a pistol’, put it in his mouth and made a gesture of pressing the trigger, then slapped the female passenger sitting next to him. The accused passenger also tried to raise his hand on a flight attendant. Seeing the situation going out of control, the flight was immediately diverted to Boston, where upon landing, the accused was arrested by the FBI and American police.
Who is the accused Praneet Usiripalli?
According to US investigative agencies, Praneet Kumar Usiripalli, age 28, is an Indian citizen. He came to America on a student visa and was recently enrolled in a Biblical Studies master’s program. At present he does not have legal visa status, which means he was living in America illegally. The American court has registered a case of assault with a dangerous weapon and attempt to cause serious injury against Usiripalli.
If the person is found guilty, he can be sentenced to up to 10 years in jail, 3 years of supervised release and a fine of up to Rs 2 crore. This case was jointly investigated by the FBI, Massachusetts Police, and Immigration & Customs Enforcement (ICE). The case will be heard in the Federal Court of Boston. Currently the accused has been kept in custody and the date of appearance in the court will be decided soon.
