When Stuart Broad received Yuvraj Singh’s signed T-shirt as a Christmas gift, he threw the jersey in the dustbin. This was revealed by Stuart’s father, Chris Broad. Stuart’s father also used to be a cricketer and was the hero of England’s memorable victory in the 1986-87 Ashes.

According to The Telegraph, Chris Broad told that Stuart did not like Yuvraj Singh’s gift after hitting 6 sixes. He said, “I had taken Yuvraj Singh’s autograph on the Indian team jersey. I gave the same jersey to Stuart Broad as a Christmas gift. He opened the gift, looked at it and threw it in the dustbin. I think he had lost his sense of humor after the 6 sixes incident.”

You ended my son’s career…

About five years ago, Yuvraj Singh had also told the story behind this signed jersey. Chris Broad was the match referee in that match of the 2007 World Cup. Yuvraj revealed how Chris Broad went to him the next day after being hit for six sixes and said, “You have almost ended my son’s career, now you have to sign this T-shirt.”

Yuvraj Singh had also written a special message on that T-shirt. He wrote, “I have been hit for 5 sixes in an over, I know how you must be feeling. All the best to the future star of England cricket.”

Stuart Broad went on to become one of the greatest bowlers in history. He took 847 wickets in his international career. He took 604 wickets in his Test career, 178 wickets in ODI matches and 65 wickets in his T20 career.
