Former Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Irfan Solanki, who was released on bail after being in jail for a long time, met senior SP leader Azam Khan, who was recently released on bail, at his residence in Rampur on Wednesday (29 October). Irfan Solanki reached Rampur with his MLA wife Naseem Solanki and met Azam Khan for about two hours.
During this time, Azam Khan welcomed Irfan Solanki through poetry and said – ‘Come, let me hug you, like me, you have also looted in the spring’. It feels good to meet people who have been robbed in the spring. He told journalists that he had a very good relationship with Irfan’s father. On the question whether this was a political meeting? Azam replied that we have family relations with Irfan Solanki but when two political people sit together and talk, political talks also take place.
The oppression happened on us as well as on them – Irfan Solanki
Former MLA from Sisamau seat of Kanpur, Irfan Solanki said on this meeting that we and Azam Khan Saheb have a family relationship. Say that we both are two sides of a coin. We were oppressed and so were they. When asked about the purpose of the meeting, Irfan said that he had just come to meet the family. On this pretext, we got to know each other’s well-being and took blessings from them that no enemy should see such a phase.
Met after coming out of jail
Irfan Solanki said that I pray that Azam Khan Sahab’s health should be fine. He is the life of our party. Irfan Solanki, who was SP MLA from Sisamau, was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment by a special MP-MLA court in Kanpur in June last year in an arson case. After that his assembly membership was abolished. Irfan’s wife Naseem Solanki had won the by-election on this seat.
After spending about 33 months in jail, Irfan was released from Maharajganj jail on bail on September 30. Earlier, senior SP leader and former minister Azam Khan was released from Sitapur jail on bail on September 23 after being in jail for almost 23 months. More than 100 cases are registered against him.
