‘Congress itself standing with the rioters’, Kharge demanded a ban on RSS, BJP got angry

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Saturday (31 October 2025) said that Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) should be banned again as this organization is responsible for most of the law and order disturbances in the country. He also said that these are his personal views.

RSS should be banned: Kharge

Responding to a question related to a statement by Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav, he said, “My personal view is that RSS should be banned.” The Congress President also claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is an expert in turning lies into truth. He said that Patel had banned RSS to protect the secular and democratic nature of India.

‘Nehru and Patel had very good relations’

Kharge said, “If you (BJP) blame Congress for everything, then look at your own actions. No matter how much you try to erase the truth, it will not be erased. The Prime Minister and the BJP always try to show the rift between independent India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and the country’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whereas Nehru and Patel had very good relations and Patel had called Nehru a leader of the people.

He said, “I want to tell BJP not to find pebbles in curd. Everyone knows your history. It was Nehru who first unveiled Patel’s statue in Gujarat and laid the foundation of Sardar Sarovar Dam.

PM Modi’s target on Jawaharlal Nehru

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that Sardar Patel wanted to merge the entire Kashmir with India like other princely states, but the then Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru did not allow this to happen.

Addressing the gathering after the National Unity Day Parade near the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Gujarat’s Ekta Nagar, Modi said, “Sardar Patel believed that one should not waste time in writing history, but should work hard to make history.”

Modi said, “Sardar Patel wanted to unify the entire Kashmir as he had done with other princely states. But Nehru ji did not allow his wish to be fulfilled. Kashmir was divided, it was given a separate constitution and a separate flag and the country had to suffer the consequences of this mistake of Congress for decades.

Congress ignored Sardar Patel: BJP

Hitting back at Mallikarjun Kharge’s statement, BJP accused Congress of ignoring Sardar Patel for more than 50 years and underestimating his contribution. BJP leader Shehzad Poonawala said that Congress never followed Patel’s footsteps and is now using his name to oppose the RSS.

‘Congress is standing with the rioters’

He said, “Congress is not Indian National Congress. It means Indian Nazi Congress. Despite all their conspiracies, the court lifted the ban on RSS. RSS is a non-political organization and government employees can participate in their activities. Congress is so intolerant that they are standing with the rioters of PFI, SDPI and MIM, but spew venom against RSS, which is working for the welfare of the country.”
