However, many people do not know that not everyone can get a marriage certificate. Due to some reasons, sometimes the application may be rejected. In such a situation, to avoid any problem after marriage, it is important to know which people do not get this certificate and what conditions are required to be followed for this.
For which people marriage certificate is not made?
Marriage certificate is made only when the marriage is valid under Indian law. If the age of marriage is less than the prescribed limit i.e. the age of the boy is below 21 years and the age of the girl is below 18 years. So in such cases certificate is not issued. Apart from this, if the marriage was done forcefully or without consent. Even then it is not valid.

A person marrying for the second time will also get this certificate only if he has legally ended the first marriage i.e. can provide proof of divorce or death of the partner. If the marriage has been done without any religious or social process. So it cannot be registered.
On what conditions is a marriage certificate made?
For a legally valid marriage, age, consent and identity of both the parties are required. For this, Aadhar card of both, birth certificate, passport size photograph, address proof of the wedding venue and two witnesses are required. The application is made in the local municipal corporation or tehsil office. Marriage can be registered under Hindu Marriage Act, Muslim Personal Law or Special Marriage Act.

After the application, the officials check the documents and then the marriage certificate is issued. If the marriage has been done in the correct legal process then this certificate is available in one to two weeks. This document is very important not only for identification but also for passport, visa, bank and other government purposes.
