Sanju Samson may be removed from the T20 team. There is news that if Samson is not able to do well, then the Indian team management can turn to Rishabh Pant for wicketkeeper in T20. Under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav, Samson has scored three centuries in T20, but after coming to the middle order, his bat has remained silent. He was given a chance at number-3 in the second T20 against Australia, but was out after scoring only 2 runs.
According to Telecom Asia Sport, the team management led by Gautam Gambhir wants Rishabh Pant to be made the wicketkeeper in all formats. Samson’s form remains a matter of concern for Team India. This year he has been able to score only 185 runs in 10 innings, and the strike rate during this period has been around 121.
The source said that Gautam Gambhir wants good results, in such a situation only regular good performance will be able to secure Samson’s place. The report also revealed that if Samson is not able to perform impressively in the next series, then it will be difficult for him to make a place in the World Cup team.
Samson has not played Test and ODI matches for a long time, so if he is dropped from the T20 team too, it would be like ending his career. Because after being dropped it will be very difficult for him to make a comeback.
Rishabh Pant has returned
Rishabh Pant suffered a fracture in his toe during the Test series against England. Pant has finally made a comeback after 3 months of recovery. He is currently captaining India A in the unofficial Test series against South Africa A. Pant has not played any T20 match after July 2024, during which he has been given the vice-captaincy of the Test team.
One reason for the decline in Samson’s form is that after the return of Shubman Gill, he was suddenly kept in the middle order from the opening. Since then, Samson has been unable to play big innings.
