Rain has interfered in the final match between India and South Africa. The final match of the Women’s World Cup will be played at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. India entered the finals by defeating Australia in the semi-finals and South Africa defeated England in the semi-finals. The toss of the India-South Africa final match was also delayed. The biggest question is that if the match could not be played today due to rain, then who will be declared the winner?
What are the rules when it rains?
If the final match cannot be held today due to rain, then November 3 has been kept as reserve day. But today an effort will be made to conduct at least 20-20 overs matches. The cut-off time of the 20-20 overs match will be 9:08 pm. If the rain stops by 9.08 pm then a 20-20 overs match is possible.
If it rains again after the start of the 20-20 overs match, the match will not be continued. In that case reserve day will be used. The priority will be to bring the result of the final match today itself. If the match cannot start then the match will be played tomorrow on Reserve Day.
What if it rains even on the reserve day?
If the final match cannot be started or completed even on 3rd November, i.e. Reserve Day, due to rain or any other reason, then both the teams will be declared joint winners. This has never happened in the history of the Women’s World Cup, when any two teams have been declared joint winners.
Till now only Australia, England and New Zealand have been able to win the Women’s World Cup trophy. Before this, Team India reached the finals twice, but could never become champion. On the other hand, South Africa has reached the final for the first time in 2025.
