In Kota, Rajasthan, a national level archer hailing from Maharashtra died allegedly due to a fall, this accident happened at Kota Junction. Police officials gave this information on Sunday. According to the police, Nashik resident Arjun Sonawale (20) was returning home with his teammates and coach after attending an event in Bathinda, Punjab.

Government Railway Police (GRP) said that he along with his companions was going to Maharashtra by Shakur Basti-Mumbai Central AC special train. Police said that when the train was slowing down to stop at Kota Junction at around 8.30 pm, Arjun was standing at the gate of B4 compartment along with some other people to move to another compartment to have food, when he accidentally slipped and fell into the gap between the train and the platform.

Player died during treatment

When the train stopped, passengers and railway personnel took him out and took him to MBS Hospital for treatment. Later, his two cousins, who were part of the team, took him to a private hospital, where he died during treatment at night, police said.

Body handed over to family members after post mortem

While giving information regarding this incident, Government Railway Police (GRP) officer Dalchand Sain said that the body was handed over to the family members after postmortem on Sunday morning. Team manager Anil Kamlapure said that Arjun was pursuing graduation and had won eight gold medals in state and national level archery events. After the death of the player, there has been a wave of mourning in the sports world.
