What is Haq’s story?
In the film, Emraan Hashmi has played the lead roles of Mohammad Ahmed Khan and Yami Gautam has played the lead roles of Shah Bano Begum. The court contest between them will be very intense. The Mohammad Ahmed Khan versus Shah Bano Begum case is considered a legal milestone in the fight to protect the rights of Muslim women in India. Let us tell you that in 1978, 62-year-old Shah Bano filed a petition in the Indore court, in which she demanded maintenance from her divorced husband, Mohammad Ahmed Khan, who was a wealthy and well-known lawyer. The two married in 1932 and had five children – three sons and two daughters. In 1985, the Supreme Court ruled that Shah Bano was entitled to maintenance under Section 125. However, a year later, the Rajiv Gandhi government enacted a law to cancel the court’s decision.

Directed by Suparn S Verma, Haq also stars Vartika Singh, Danish Hussain, Sheeba Chaddha and Aseem Hattangadi in lead roles. Made under the banner of Junglee Pictures, the producers of this film are Vineet Jain, Vishal Gurnani, Juhi Parekh Mehta and Harman Baweja. It will be released in theaters on November 7, 2025.
