‘Thama’ director Aditya Sarpotdar has made a new revelation about his film ‘Munjya’. In a special interview with Moviefied, he told that Shraddha Kapoor was initially supposed to play the role of Bittu in ‘Munjya’. This character was a lesbian whose feelings no one understood.
Shraddha Kapoor was going to play a lesbian character
Aditya Sarpotdar also told that there was confusion about Alia Bhatt and Shraddha Kapoor for the film but later the makers finalized Shraddha for this role. But Aditya Sarpotdar himself changed this plan. The director told that the writer of the film Yogesh Chandekar had written it from a woman’s perspective and with a female lead. Bittu is a lesbian who falls in love with her best friend. She tells this to Rajji and then ‘Munjya’ enters the film.

Taking his point further, the filmmaker told in the interview that he always wanted that the story and narrative of any film should always be of the same type. If too many things are shown to the audience then they may face difficulty in understanding the film. The filmmaker shared that he felt it was more appropriate to compare Munjya with a man in the role of Bittu. Both the characters are in love with a girl six years older than them, but their approach towards their love is quite different.
Aditya Sarpotdar shared with the makers that while Munjya becomes violent to get his love, Bittu chooses the path of sacrifice for his love. When the filmmaker shared his idea, everyone agreed to his suggestion. Let us tell you, the role of Bittu was played by Abhay Verma in the film.
About ‘Munjya’
This film of Aditya Sarpotdar was released on June 7 last year. Many stars including Abhay Verma, Sharvari Wagh, Mona Singh, Taran Singh were seen in lead roles in this film. The story of the film begins when Abhay Verma i.e. Bittu reaches his village and suddenly he meets the demon Munjya. Both of them fall in love with Bela (Sharwari Wagh). There is a fierce confrontation between Bittu and Munjya to save Bela.
