This time the political influence of Uttar Pradesh is clearly visible in the campaign for Bihar Assembly elections. From BJP to Samajwadi Party, every party is trying to woo the public by citing the UP model.
Issues like UP’s bulldozers, roads, law and order and Ram temple are being raised strongly on the forums of Bihar. If seen from the perspective of political experts, this campaign is not limited to Bihar only, but is also giving a glimpse of the strategy for the 2027 UP assembly elections.
Yogi’s bulldozer and development model became election weapon
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy Chief Minister and many ministers are busy campaigning in Bihar. UP’s development, law and order and revival of religious places are being mentioned repeatedly in Yogi’s meetings. Yogi said in the meeting in Mohiuddinnagar that Samajwadi Party had opened fire on Ram devotees and Congress is raising questions on Chhath festival. He said that in UP we have created our identity not just by name but by our work. Ram temple in Ayodhya, Vishwanath Dham in Kashi and Divya Kumbh in Prayagraj are examples of this. Yogi warned that now bulldozers will be used against the mafia in Bihar also, because the bulldozer of UP is neither going to stop nor afraid.
Akhilesh Yadav’s sarcasm on the politics of ‘name change’
SP chief Akhilesh Yadav said in East Champaran that BJP’s annihilation in Bihar is certain. Taking a jibe at Yogi, he said that the ‘monogamous’ leader of UP has the disease of changing names – he even changes his name, dress and thoughts. Akhilesh claimed that the Samajwadi government built roads like expressways, while the BJP copied them and added corruption. He said that he and Tejashwi Yadav together are working with the vision of connecting UP-Bihar with Delhi.
Bihar becomes testing center for UP strategy
The socio-cultural similarity of Bihar and Purvanchal is making this election interesting. News agency IANS believes that UP will go into election mode next year, hence both BJP and SP are trying to strengthen their image in Bihar. The perception of investment and law and order in UP has influenced the voters of Bihar. Whereas SP and Congress are trying to take political advantage by calling it an ‘illusion’.
