Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi and actress Yami Gautam’s film ‘Haq’ is going to be released on November 7. There is a lot of discussion about this film based on Shah Bano case. Meanwhile, Imran and Yami have discussed their fees for ‘Haq’. He has also given his opinion regarding pay parity in Bollywood. Emraan Hashmi says that an actor’s fee for a film depends on his previous box office records.

During an exclusive interview with ABP News, Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam were asked whether both of them got equal fees for ‘Haq’. Because in Bollywood, actresses are often paid less than actors. Responding to this, Yami said that she does not know how much money Imran has received. Imran also said that he too did not ask the actress about this.

‘It all depends on the box office numbers’
Emraan Hashmi further says- ‘I can tell you on what basis the remuneration is decided. If some of your previous films open at number one at a box office, then it becomes a barometer to decide how valuable a star you are and what should be your remuneration. This is one of the factors. But you cannot generalize that women are always paid less. It all depends on the box office numbers.

What did Emraan Hashmi say about pay parity?
Imran further says- ‘If a male actor can generate such numbers at the box office from his last few films, then there is a consolidated number which is reasonable and sufficient for the actor. And the same thing happens with a female actress, if she opens at a certain number. It is decided on your box office number only. People become very binary about that, well this is what is going wrong here and only male actors are getting this much money and women are not. but it’s not like that.’

‘If any change is to be brought about, it takes generations in the industry’
Yami Gautam also gives her opinion on this. She says- ‘Technically he (Imran) is right. This is math. You ask any producer, this is the math. But I feel that if any change has to be brought about, it takes generations in the industry. Now that you see this, earlier they used to hide the marriage. Now people also know publicly about marriage. I am a working mother, I get a lot of love from everyone and being an actor, my personal life has nothing to do with my professional life. So things have changed a lot in the Indian film industry.

Emraan Hashmi further says that being male or female has nothing to do with fees. Rather, an actor should know how to negotiate well.

How much fee did Imran-Yami get for ‘Haq’?
Yami Gautam has played the role of ‘Shah Bano Begum’ in ‘Haq’. For this he has received a fee of Rs 12 crore. Emraan Hashmi also got only Rs 12 crore.
