Why women need more sleep: What does a person need in life, when he returns home tired at night, to eat and sleep comfortably? Sleep is as important for humans as food and water. This is why they need a little more sleep to feel completely refreshed.

Why do women need more sleep?

Hormonal changes keep happening in the body of women, due to which they need more sleep. Cleveland Clinic report says that problems like insomnia or restlessness due to premenstrual syndrome and hormonal imbalance are common. After this comes the second reason and that is problem in sleep. The problem of frequent awakening or light sleep during sleep is more common in women. According to an NIH study, this pattern was especially seen in women who were stressed or taking care of a child. The result is that even if the total sleep is the same, the level of rest is felt to be less.

If we talk about the third reason, it includes mental and social responsibilities. According to the report of Women Brain Health Initiative, women often handle many tasks simultaneously throughout the day, such as household, work, child care, etc. This continuous multitasking makes the brain more tired and increases the consumption of mental energy. In such a situation, the brain needs more rest i.e. sleep to recharge itself.
