On Thursday, all the teams have released their retention lists for the Women’s Premier League 2026. Each team was allowed to retain a maximum of 5 players. Mumbai Indians have retained 5 excellent players while filling all these five slots, which also includes Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur. Mumbai has retained Harmanpreet Kaur, Nate-Syver Brunt, Hayley Mathews, Amanjot Kaur and G Kamalini. The auction of WPL 2026 will take place on 27th November.
BCCI had set the auction purse of all the teams for the auction at Rs 15 crore and had set different amounts for retention. The first retention was set at Rs 3.5 crore, second retention at Rs 2.5 crore, third retention at Rs 1.75 crore, fourth retention at Rs 1 crore and if a team retains the fifth player, then its minimum price was set at Rs 50 lakh.
MI retention list
It is surprising that Mumbai Indians have not made Harmanpreet Kaur the first retention. MI has given Rs 3.5 crore to Nate Sciver Brunt as its first retention. Whereas Harmanpreet Kaur has been retained for Rs 2.5 crore. Hayley Mathews has been retained for Rs 1.75 crore and Mumbai has retained India’s star all-rounder Amanjot Kaur for Rs 1 crore. Mumbai has also retained an uncapped player in the form of 17-year-old G Kamalini, who will get Rs 60 lakh.

MI is a two-time champion
Mumbai Indians have won the WPL title twice. She became champion of the Women’s Premier League in 2023 and 2025. Mumbai Indians won the Women’s Premier League for the second time by defeating Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in the final of 2025 WPL.
