Actually, a shocking incident came to light from Sangareddy district of Telangana, where a 25 year old woman committed suicide due to fear of ants. This incident happened on 4 November. According to the police, the woman was afraid of ants since childhood. He had also been counseled regarding this in his native village. The woman also wrote a letter before suicide, in which she wrote, ‘I am sorry that I cannot live with these ants. Take care of your daughter. Be careful.”

Why are you afraid of ants?

This type of disease is called myrmecophobia. This is a kind of specific phobia, in which the person feels extreme fear or panic from ants. This fear is so great that the person becomes restless even thinking about ants. In some cases, people avoid going around ants and are even afraid of eating outside or going to gardens. People who are afraid of ants show many physical and mental symptoms, such as a rapid heartbeat, sweating or trembling, and running away from places or things associated with ants.

Deficiency of which vitamin causes this?

There is no concrete evidence yet as to which vitamins cause this, but it has been mentioned in many places that it could be due to deficiency of Vitamin B12. Vitamin B12 helps in keeping the nervous system strong. Due to its deficiency, a person may have mental problems like fatigue, weakness, amnesia and fear. When the nervous system becomes weak, even small things can cause fear.
