Hyundai Creta continues to dominate the Indian midsize SUV segment so far. The company has made it the most popular SUV in India through its continuous updates and generation upgrades. But now this kingship may be in danger, because in the coming months many leading auto companies are going to launch new and advanced SUVs. Brands like Tata, Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Kia, Nissan, Skoda and Volkswagen will present their new models in this segment. These SUVs will not only have premium design and high-tech features, but will also have electric and hybrid powertrains.
Tata Sierra EV
- Tata Motors is going to launch its classic SUV Sierra in electric avatar on 27 November 2025. The new Sierra EV has been built on the company’s Born Electric Platform. It will be provided with features like range of more than 500 kilometers, ADAS Level-2 safety features and panoramic sunroof. Its futuristic design and luxurious interior can prove to be a big threat to Creta.
Renault Duster (3rd Gen)
- Renault will present its third generation Duster on 26 January 2026. This SUV will be bigger, stronger and with more advanced technology than before. It will have features like hybrid engine, all-wheel drive system and 360° camera. Duster’s off-road capability and new design will make it a direct rival to Creta.
Maruti Suzuki eVitara
- Maruti Suzuki will launch its first electric SUV eVitara in December 2025. It will have two battery pack options, whose range will be 400 and 500 kilometers. This SUV, developed in collaboration with Toyota, will have features like fast charging and ADAS. eVitara will become a big challenge for Creta in the electric segment.
Kia Seltos (Next Generation)
- Kia is planning to launch its next generation Seltos by 2027. The new Seltos will be provided with advanced features like hybrid powertrain, new digital cockpit and ADAS 2.0. Its modern design and hi-tech features will bring it at par with Creta.
Nissan Tecton
- Nissan will launch its new SUV Tecton in 2026, which will be based on the platform of Renault Duster. It will get a new design with hybrid engine and off-road modes. The sturdy build quality makes it a practical and reliable choice.
Skoda Kushaq Facelift
- Skoda will bring the facelift of its SUV Kushaq in early 2026. Features like 360° camera, ADAS and large infotainment screen will be added to it. Its updated design will make it more attractive.
Volkswagen Taigun Facelift
- Volkswagen is also preparing to bring a facelift of its Taigun in 2026. It will be provided with ADAS, digital instrument cluster and new bumper design. Its strong body and smooth driving experience will make it another tough competition for the Creta.
- There will be tremendous competition in the Indian SUV segment in the coming months. With new technology, electric options and attractive design, these SUVs are all set to seriously challenge the reign of Hyundai Creta.
