Before the IPL 2026 mini auction, Sanju Samson had demanded his release from the RR franchise. It is being told that Samson’s relations with Rajasthan Royals management are bad since the Rajasthan team released Jos Buttler before the 2025 mega auction. Meanwhile, CSK was the first team to show interest in trading Samson, but later dropped out of the race.
Will CSK trade Sanju Samson?
According to a report published in Cricbuzz, now CSK has again joined the race to trade Sanju Samson. CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan has confirmed that MS Dhoni will be available for the next season. Each team is allowed to retain 15 players before the auction.
It was told in the report that Dhoni is contributing in making the retention list of CSK. He can meet Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Vishwanathan, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and coach Stephen Fleming very soon. Their meeting may be held on 10th and 11th November, in which a final decision regarding retention is possible. By that time the franchise would have clarified the situation regarding the trade of Sanju Samson.
Four teams in the race for Samson!
According to Cricbuzz, there have been talks between RR and CSK management regarding the trade of Sanju Samson. It would also not be surprising if a top CSK player is traded in place of Samson. Rajasthan Royals team owner Manoj Badale has recently returned to Mumbai from London. They are discussing all options to trade Samson and have also come in contact with Lucknow Super Giants, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals and CSK management.
The talks between CSK and RR management have gone so far that Super Kings management has even sent a notice to one of its top players. He has been asked whether he has any objection to going to Rajasthan Royals or not. The situation seems to be completely clear in the next few days.
