These days YouTube is using AI to verify the age of the user. The company has started its AI edge verification program in many countries. If a user is found to be below 18 years of age during verification, the company takes several steps including turning on digital well-being tools by default and blocking age-restricted videos. But something is wrong with this program and the age verification tool is calling even adults above 18 years of age as minor, due to which they are facing difficulty in watching videos.
System not working properly
YouTube’s AI age verification system is not working properly. Many users are venting their anger regarding this on social media. Despite many methods of age verification being implemented by Google, it is still calling adult users as minors. A user on social media said that he is 21 years old, but YouTube is calling him a minor. Similarly, another user told that he is more than 18 years of age, but YouTube is not considering him as an adult. On age verification, a warning message comes from YouTube, in which it is written that your age could not be verified, hence changes are being made in some settings.
Users now have only this option
After the glitch in the system, now the user is left with only the option to verify the age manually. Users can verify their age only with the help of their selfie, credit card or any ID. Let us tell you that YouTube has currently used AI age verification system only in America, United Kingdom and some European countries. Google is also using such a system on Play Store to download some apps.
