Because of this, for the first time in the last 54 years, a Pakistani naval ship has reached Chittagong port. Pakistan Navy’s PNS Saif, which is a Chinese-made F-22P Zulfikar class missile frigate. He has reached Bangladesh for 4 days. This is the same Bangladesh, which was liberated by India in 1971 from the oppressive rule of the then West Pakistan, hence the historical and political significance of this visit is very deep.
Bangladesh Navy has confirmed the arrival of the ship in its Facebook post. He informed that the ship, commanded by Captain Shujaat Abbas Raja, was warmly welcomed by the Commander of Chittagong Naval Area and officials of the Pakistani Embassy. BNS Shadinota formally welcomed the ship as it entered Bangladeshi waters.
Diplomatic signals and India’s concerns
This visit took place at a time when India had defeated the neighboring country Pakistan under Operation Sindoor. On the contrary, the interim government in Dhaka led by Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus is trying to correct its old relations with Pakistan.
China’s influence and regional equation
PNS Saif is built in China. It was inducted into the Pakistan Navy in 2010. This matter is even more sensitive for Indian political experts, because China is not only Pakistan’s largest defense partner, but is also deepening naval cooperation with Bangladesh.
