Actually this story is from the year 2005. When Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee’s blockbuster film ‘Bunty Aur Babli’ came. In this film, Big also did an iconic song ‘Kajra Re’ with son Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai. Shankar Mahadevan shared this story recently. The musician talked about this in the podcast ‘Humans of Bombay’ and said that at that time Big B had threatened to spoil his career.

Shankar Mahadevan told, ‘I had dubbed a rough version of this song for Amitabh Bachchan so that he could come and record his voice, because Javed Ali had sung for Abhishek and I had done his parts. In such a situation, I asked him for dubbing. So he said, ‘What should I dub in that?’ I said, ‘Sir, I have kept your parts for dubbing.’ Then Big B said, ‘No, it will happen like this. If you touch her, I will spoil your career.
Big B liked the rough version
Actually, Big B had said this to Shankar Mahadevan only jokingly. He said that Amitabh sir liked his rough dubbed version so much that he did not want to change it at all.
