According to Vastu, mopping in the morning i.e. after sunrise and before noon is considered most auspicious. During this time, positive energy is activated in the environment, due to which peace and good fortune reside in the house.
According to Vastu experts, the direction of mopping also matters. Mopping should always be done from the entrance of the house inwards. By doing this, the negative energy present in the house goes out and the flow of positivity increases.
There are some days when mopping should be avoided. Thursday is one of them. It is said that mopping on this day displeases Lord Jupiter, which can cause problems in the house. Those who follow this rule get auspicious results.
Similarly, one should avoid mopping the house on the day of Ekadashi. Doing this can hamper the happiness and peace of the family and sudden obstacles can arise. On this day, it is considered appropriate to clean the house with a dry broom only.
The most auspicious time for mopping has been said to be Brahma Muhurta. That is, cleaning done about one and a half hour before sunrise brings positive energy into the house and negativity goes away.
