A Ka-226 helicopter met with an accident in Dagestan, Russia, in which at least five people died. The dead also include four senior officials of the Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant, a Russian military factory. The helicopter met with an accident in a village near the Caspian Sea. The video of the incident is becoming increasingly viral on social media.
How did the accident happen?
The helicopter crashed on 7 November. It was seen in the viral video that the chopper was trying to land on the beach when its rear part hit a rock. After the collision, the rear rotor of the helicopter broke and it lost its balance. After this the helicopter crashed into an empty private house near Achi-su village. After the collision, a massive fire broke out in the house and it was reduced to debris. Another video of the incident has also surfaced, in which it is seen that the helicopter breaks the roof of the house and falls inside and is immediately engulfed in flames. After the accident, firefighters had to work hard to control the fire.

Who was in the helicopter?
The helicopter was carrying employees of the EU-banned Kizlyar Electromechanical Plant. The company confirmed that four of its executives were killed in the accident. These included Achalo Magomedov, the company’s Deputy General Director (Construction and Transport Support). Apart from this, a flight mechanic of helicopter Ka-226 also died. Two people have been injured in the accident.
What was the reason for the accident?
Eastern Europe’s news channel Nexta said that the accident happened due to a technical fault and there was no sign of any kind of conspiracy in it. Russia’s federal aviation agency Rosaviatsia has formally declared the crash a ‘disaster’ and said it will take part in the official investigation.
