Ajinkya Naik has been re-elected President of Mumbai Cricket Association. His election was unopposed. Ajinkya is considered close to both CM Devendra Fadnavis and Sharad Pawar. After Ajinkya’s election, elections will now be held for the posts of Vice President, Secretary, Joint Secretary and Treasurer.

Jitendra Awhad is contesting against Naveen Shetty for the post of Vice President. There is a fight between Shah Alam Sheikh and Dr. Unmesh Khanwilkar for the post of Secretary. Gaurav Payade and Nilesh Bhosle will contest for the post of Joint Secretary. At the same time, there is a fight between Armaan Malik vs Surendra Shewale for the post of Treasurer.
Ajinkya defeated Sanjay Naik
After the death of Amol Kale, Ajinkya Naik was elected the President of Mumbai Cricket Association. He became the youngest president on 23 July 2024. At that time he had defeated Sanjay Naik.
Naik had defeated Sanjay Naik, a candidate supported by Mumbai BJP chief and former BCCI treasurer Ashish Shelar, by 107 votes. Ajinkya Naik got 221 votes, while Sanjay got 114 votes.

Milind Narvekar, close to Uddhav Thackeray, had also applied for the post of Vice President. Later he withdrew his name. BJP’s MLC Prasad Lad also withdrew his name. Now Jitendra Awhad of Sharad Pawar group will face Naveen Shetty in the field.
After being elected unopposed, Ajinkya Naik said that he got this second chance because of CM Devendra Fadnavis and Sharad Pawar. He said that MCA is a family. He said that there are fights, there are elections but we all work together. He said that CM Fadnavis has claimed the new Wankhede Stadium, we will definitely work for it.
