‘Of all the attacks in the entire country, one-third are in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa only’, Pakistan Human Rights Commission expressed concern

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) has expressed concern over the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He says that out of all the incidents of attacks reported in the entire country this year, one-third have taken place only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. HRCP has expressed concern about the kind of fear that has gripped the minds of the people living there due to the situation in the province.

According to the report of Pakistani media The Express Tribune, HRCP says that in all the attacks that took place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces and law enforcement agencies were mainly targeted. Pakistani media has published this report with the headline ‘Caught in the crossfire’.

According to reports, the epicenter of the violence was the merged districts. People living here are facing conditions like insecurity, forced displacement and limited access to justice. According to the report, HRCP has revealed that people from the affected communities living there say that people are being detained arbitrarily, the detention centers established under the Action (In Aid of Civil Power) Ordinance, 2019 are still running and incidents of enforced disappearance are continuing.

The report has also revealed that the journalists reporting to highlight the situation here are also not safe. Journalists face censorship, threats and targeted attacks. Tribal elders, political supporters and peace advocates are also facing attacks. This has created a deep feeling of insecurity and distrust among the people.

For some time now, such news has been continuously coming in the media that people from families living in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are forcibly taken away by the police or army and then they go missing or are murdered.
