Loud explosion in a slow moving car
On Monday evening, there was a loud explosion in a slow moving car near Red Fort metro station. Several vehicles were damaged and at least 9 people died. According to news agency ANI, following the blast near the Red Fort metro station, the CISF has issued a high alert across the country – including airports, Delhi Metro, heritage sites, government buildings and other major establishments under its security cover.

High alert has been issued in many states across the country and police forces are increasing investigations and tightening security measures to prevent any untoward incident. Security will also be increased at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on the last day of the Ranji Trophy Group D match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir, as this stadium is located a few kilometers from the blast site.

Delhi Police statement

Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha told journalists. Three to four vehicles were damaged by the blast, “The blast took place in a slow-moving vehicle that was stopped at the traffic signal of the Red Fort. There were passengers in the car. Nearby cars were damaged by the blast.” The Haryana registration number of the car was Hyundai i20. India’s premier terrorism investigation agency, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the National Security Guard have joined the investigation.
