Jordan Neil became the youngest Irish player to make his Test debut, got a chance against Bangladesh

All-rounder Jordan Neal has become the youngest Irishman to make his Test debut. At the age of 19 years and 253 days, Neil has been given a chance in the first Test being played against Bangladesh in Sylhet.

In this ongoing match at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Ireland won the toss and decided to bat first. Andrew Balbirnie is in charge of Ireland, while Nazmul Hussain Shanto is in charge of Bangladesh.

Jordan Neal has been selected to bat at number six. Apart from him, 23-year-old batsman Cade Carmichael has also been given a chance to make his Test debut, who will bat at number three.

On the other hand, Bangladesh has handed the Test cap to left-arm spinner Hasan Murad, who has taken 83 wickets in 30 first-class matches.

Both the teams have met only once before in red ball cricket. This match was played in April 2023, in which Bangladesh won by 7 wickets. After the two-match Test series, a three-match T20 series is to be played between Bangladesh and Ireland, due to which Ireland has suffered a setback.

Right-handed batsman Ross Adair will not be seen playing in the T20 series. He has been ruled out of the series due to a knee strain. Jordan Neil will replace Adair in the T20 series.

Neil got a chance to debut in international cricket for Ireland in May 2025, but after injury he could not play a large part of the domestic season.

Ireland’s playing eleven: Andrew Balbirnie (captain), Paul Stirling, Cade Carmichael, Harry Tector, Curtis Campher, Lorcan Tucker (wicketkeeper), Jordan Neal, Andy McBrine, Barry McCarthy, Matthew Humphreys and Craig Young.

Bangladesh’s playing eleven: Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Mominul Haq, Nazmul Hussain Shanto (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Liton Das (wicketkeeper), Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Taijul Islam, Hasan Mahmood, Nahid Rana and Hasan Murad.
