His son Bobby Deol had recently revealed why Dharmendra had refused to act in ‘Zanjeer’.

It is written in Deepkirti Chaudhary’s book ‘Written by Salim-Javed’ that Salim Khan first gave the idea of ​​’Zanjeer’ to Dharmendra. After which the veteran actor bought the idea of ​​’Zanjeer’ for Rs 2500. After this Dharmendra was also offered the lead role in the film. Then Dharmendra’s brother Ajit and director Prakash Mehra were going to make ‘Zanjeer’ together.

‘If you do this film then you will see my dead face’
However, Dharmendra had rejected ‘Zanjeer’ after his brother’s departure. The real reason for which was revealed by his son Bobby Deol. In an old interview given to Instant Bollywood, Bobby Deol had told that Dharmendra had left ‘Zanjeer’ because of one of his cousin sisters. He had said- ‘When Zanjeer was offered, Papa wanted to do it. But we had a cousin sister and she probably had some problem with Prakash Mehra ji. One day she came home and said, I swear to you, if you do this film, you will see my dead face. That’s why my father had to leave ‘Zanjeer’.
