
It is a matter of relief that the fat accumulated in the liver can be reduced to a great extent through exercise. Even without losing much weight, exercise strengthens the liver. If this is done with proper diet, it helps in reversing the disease. Research shows that regular exercise not only reduces liver fat but also improves metabolism.

In fatty liver disease, 5 to 10 percent fat gets accumulated inside the liver. This fat damages liver cells and causes inflammation. Its symptoms are not visible in the initial stage, but if not treated, it can cause liver failure or cancer.

Studies show that exercise is an effective treatment for fatty liver. Aerobic exercise reduces liver fat and also keeps blood pressure and cholesterol balanced. 150 to 300 minutes of moderate exercise or strength training two days a week is enough to keep the liver healthy.

Fast walking or light running is an easy aerobic exercise. In this, breathing becomes a little faster but you can talk. Walking briskly for 30 to 45 minutes daily helps in reducing liver fat.

Cycling is a great cardio exercise that activates large muscles and increases insulin sensitivity. This can also be done at home on a stationary bike. Cycling for 30 minutes 3 to 4 times a week gives good results.

High-intensity interval training, or HIIT, includes fast exercises like sprints, burpees and jump squats. It gives more effect in less time. According to a study, it showed improvement in liver condition in MASH patients.

Strength training strengthens muscles and speeds up metabolism. It helps the body burn fat and reduces pressure on the liver. 3 sessions a week are enough. Fatty liver can be reversed in its initial stages with proper exercise and regular routine.
