Ola is bringing a new 4-door electric car, will give tough competition to MG Comet with tall-boy design

Till now the name of Ola Electric was known only for electric scooters, but now the company is going to enter the world of four wheels. While on one hand Ola is in the news for its service network and falling sales, now it has played a new and big bet. The company has patented the design of a compact electric car in India, which makes it clear that Ola is now preparing to enter the electric four-wheeler segment.

  • The market of electric vehicles is growing rapidly in India. Now customers are showing interest in buying not only electric scooters but also compact EV cars. This new initiative of Ola has been taken keeping this growing trend in mind and it is believed that this car will give direct competition to MG Comet EV.

Design of Ola’s compact EV

  • According to the design patent, the profile of Ola’s upcoming compact electric car is largely boxy and tall-boy style. This look reminds of MG Comet EV, but this car of Ola has some important differences. While MG Comet EV has only two doors, this new electric car from Ola has four doors and a trunk (boot space). This makes the car look slightly larger in size and more practical. Its design has been made for urban use, which despite being compact, will be spacious from inside.

Cabin and interior

  • It is seen in the design of the car that its wheels have been placed right at the edges, so that more space can be found inside the cabin. Its front profile is flat, in which a simple but modern bumper design can be seen. Sharp lighting elements and full-width LED strip can be provided in the front, which makes the car look premium. The charging port has been placed towards the front of the car, which will make it easy to charge it in the parking lot.

Range and Technology

  • The company has not yet shared the specifications or technical details of this EV, but according to industry sources, its estimated range could be 200 to 250 kilometers. This figure is close to the 230 km certified range of MG Comet EV, which allows a direct comparison between the two. There is a possibility that Ola will also provide fast charging technology and smart connectivity features in this car.

Ola’s Gen 4 platform

  • Ola is currently working on its new Gen 4 platform. This platform is a multi-use versatile architecture, which the company plans to use in small EV cars, 3-wheelers and light commercial vehicles (LCVs). Let us tell you that Ola had earlier started with electric scooters like S1 Pro and S1 Air, which promoted the EV trend in India. Now the company’s focus has increased from scooters to four-wheelers.
