Voting for by-elections was held on Tuesday (November 11) in eight assembly seats of seven states and union territories of the country. Now the results of these elections will be declared on 14 November (Friday). The seats where voting took place include Budgam and Nagrota of Jammu and Kashmir, Ghatsila of Jharkhand, Tarn Taran of Punjab, Anta of Rajasthan, Jubilee Hills of Telangana, Dampa of Mizoram and Nuapada assembly seat of Odisha.
Budgam and Ganderbal assembly seats of Jammu and Kashmir
Omar Abdullah had won from two seats Budgam and Ganderbal in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Later he resigned from Budgam seat, due to which by-election has now been held on this seat. At the same time, Nagrota seat was vacant due to the death of BJP MLA Devendra Singh Rana.
Anta seat of Rajasthan
By-elections have been held on Rajasthan’s Anta seat because BJP leader Kanwar Lal Meena was disqualified after his conviction in an old case of 2005.
By-election results will come on this seat of Jharkhand
By-election was held on Ghatshila assembly seat of Jharkhand on 11 November. The contest on this seat is very interesting because there is a direct contest between Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Somesh Soren, son of former MLA Ramdas Soren, and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate Babulal Soren, son of former Chief Minister Champai Soren. A total of 13 candidates are trying their luck in this by-election.
Jubilee Hills assembly seat of Hyderabad
There is a huge contest between Congress, BRS and BJP on Jubilee Hills Assembly seat of Hyderabad. The results are expected to be declared tomorrow i.e. on 13th November between 11 am to 12 noon.
